Job Description

Energy Intern at the Center for Sustainable Energy will provide technical support and program support for the Center for Sustainable Energy at ECSU, a part of the Environmental Earth Science Department. The Center focuses on sustainable buildings and communities, energy efficiency, renewable energy as well as environmental impacts of using products, goods, and services. Students will work under the supervision of the Endowed Chair for Sustainable Studies and will work on research and academic projects related to the Center’s mission including data analysis, educational development, and the Center’s outreach to the campus and the larger community. 1. Provide support for energy benchmarking and other energy-related analysis programs, 2. Assist in the development of the Center’s efforts on the ECSU campus, 3. Investigate opportunities for recycling on campus including source reduction and establishing maximum value for waste materials. 4. Assist in the collaborative projects for assessing technology for sustainable energy and resource use including energy efficiency in buildings and electric vehicles. 5. Assist in the preparation of evaluations and report concerning program research, data and results. 6. Assist in the implementation of demonstration projects, information dissemination, educational outreach and program marketing for energy programs. 7. Coordinate with the Institute for Sustainable Energy to provide technical input for their efforts. 8. Creating case studies of zero energy buildings including data verification. 9. Setting up and working with data loggers to collect energy information on energy usage, lighting usage, and plug load usage.

Job Requirements

Job Requirements Sustainable Energy Studies, Environmental Earth Science and other Science, Political Science and Business Majors preferred. CANDIDATE MUST EXHIBIT STRONG INTEREST IN THE ENVIRONMENT AND ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY AS HIS/HER CONTINUING EMPLOYMENT INTEREST! The successful candidate will possess strong research, internet, EXCEL, PowerPoint, writing and communications skills and show independence and initiative in completing assignments.
